I have been providing psychotherapy and parent coaching since 1998. A broad range of clinical experience informs my work. I’ve worked in a range of settings, including outpatient chemical dependency, public schools, a family support center, and most recently at Kaiser Permanente in the department of outpatient psychiatry.
People describe my style as warm and direct, with frequent sprinklings of humor. I’ll encourage you to give me feedback as to how therapy is progressing for you so that I may continue to meet your needs. We’ll work together to determine the best path for therapy to take, including collaborating on goals, deciding how frequently to meet, and when to stop meeting (no one has to be in therapy forever!).
My goal is to start my work with each client by understanding their unique strengths and needs. You are the expert on yourself and your experience. I hope to help you understand yourself better and to support you through any challenges you are experiencing, so that you can make the changes that are right for you.
When seeking therapy, some people wish for a sounding board, a place to feel heard and validated. Others want lots of feedback and a directive approach. During our first contact via a 10-minute no-cost phone or video-call consultation, we’ll talk about what you’re looking for and how I might be able to help.
I have worked with clients from many backgrounds and identities. As an able-bodied, cis-gender, white, middle class woman, I am aware that I exist in a culture that privileges my experience over many who are “othered” by society. I work hard at being an ally to all who enter my door, whatever their background. Everyone deserves to be heard and seen for who they are.
